What You'll Learn...

Auto-follows: your secret weapon

If you are on LinkedIn, YouTube, X (Twitter), or all of the above, you are probably interested in actually gaining more followers on these respective platforms.

As you know, these platforms are legitimate business assets and you need to treat them that way.

You can channel this audience to your newsletter, events, or even your latest product. The size of your following isn’t just about likes or shares, it’s about real business impact.

So the pressure is on.

That’s why I’m always on the hunt for quick and cost effective tricks to build those audiences faster.

This  quick and free trick is mastering the auto-follow link.

What’s an auto-follow link?

Like many out there, your social media growth probably hinges on links peppered across your website, social profiles, or your LinkTree. That’s a solid place to start.

However, once the user clicks those links, every single tweet, post, or video out there is competing with you for those precious seconds of a user’s attention. You may get the users to visit your profile page, but if the algorithm throws something catchy in the sidebar, they’re gone.

Even worse, it is unlikely they actually follow your profile.

With these links, when someone lands on your social profile, they’re automatically prompted to follow you or subscribe. It’s a small change, but it’s effective. After all, people are distractible…

This puts the “follow” button right in front of their face.

And they’re incredibly easy to build.

We’re talking a few clicks and you’re keeping more of your visitors locked in. This isn’t just about getting more eyes on your page; it’s about converting those glances into genuine, engaged followers.

Recipe Guide: Auto-Follow Links

Linked In

LinkedIn is a great place for a founder to be. It’s where decisions are made, because that’s where the decision makers hang out.

This is why, as founders, creators and entrepreneurs, you need to have a presence.

On LinkedIn, your audience isn’t just casually double-tapping on pictures. They’re CEOs, entrepreneurs, thought leaders – people who live and breathe business. When you post on LinkedIn, you’re strategically placing yourself in front of the eyes that matter.

These are people who can make things happen, who can take your message and amplify it in ways Instagram or Twitter never could.

That’s why you need to build a following. And to build a following, you want to get people clicking that “Follow” button even quicker. There are two methods at your disposal, each with its own advantages:

Method 1: Get it from the Linkedin GUI

Before you use this method, you need to make sure “Creator mode” is turned ON. This setting opens up access to new details that help with audience growth. And, as it happens, this “Follow Link” shortcut is one of these helpful additional features. Here’s how:

  1. Open “Creator Tools”
  2. Click “Learn More” on the “Follow Link” section
  3. Copy Link.

It’s that easy.

Method 2: Build the URL Path Manually

There’s no need for “Creator mode” here, but that does mean it’s slightly more technical. It’s just a case of manually typing out your own URL. For that, you need to know the exact formula to make the link work in the way you’re intending.

  1. Start with the base URL : https://www.linkedin.com/
  2. Next, add a new sub-directory path: mynetwork/discovery-see-all/
  3. Then, include the URL Query Parameter ?usecase=PEOPLE_FOLLOWS&followMember=
  4. Finally, add on your username USERNAME
  5. If done correctly, it should look like this: //www.linkedin.com/mynetwork/discovery-see-all/?usecase=PEOPLE_FOLLOWS&followMember=devinschumacher

YouTube

YouTube, the video-sharing market leader, has evolved into much more than a website for watching dumb cat videos.

Essentially, it’s now a search engine and a social network – and a very big one at that.

YouTube is where depth meets reach. It’s the land of long-form content where you can dive deep and show off your passions and expertise.

But if no one watches your videos, what’s the point?

The king of YouTube metrics is subscribers. Every time you post, your subscribers will be served up your new video. Think of it like a subscriber for an email newsletter, but video.

Clearly, you want as many subscribers as you can get.

To grow your subscriber base faster,  you simply need to adjust your URL to trigger an automatic “confirm subscription” pop-up.

It’s surprisingly easy – just follow these steps:

  1. Take your normal URL:  https://www.youtube.com/@CHANNELNAME
  2. Add this on the end ”?sub_confirmation=1”
  3. If you did it right, it should look like this https://www.youtube.com/@devinschumacher?sub_confirmation=1

Now just share your new link in the usual places and enjoy a steady new flow of YouTube subscribers.

X (Twitter)

Alright, let’s switch gears and talk about X. X is a whole different beast, and as influencers, you need to understand its raw power, it’s the pulse of the planet, a real-time stream of the global consciousness. It’s where news breaks, trends start, and conversations spark.

Every tweet, every hashtag, every trending topic – it’s an opportunity for you to shape the narrative, to be the voice people turn to.

But here’s the thing about Xr – it’s not just about what you say, it’s about how you say it. It’s about being bold, being clever, and above all, being authentic. X is the platform where your personality can truly shine. You’re not just sharing content; you’re creating a persona that resonates with your audience on a personal level.

As a thought leader it can be extremely valuable to have a large   X Xfollowing. “Follow Intent” links are how you build it faster.

Just a subtle tweak to your URL triggers an instant “follow me” suggestion.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Begin with the twitter URL: https://twitter.com
  2. Then include the “intent/follow” URL path and “screen_name” URL parameter:               intent/follow?screen_name=
  3. Finally, add your Twitter handle: USERNAME
  4. If you did it right, it should look like this: https://twitter.com/intent/follow?screen_name=dvnschmchr

Maximum impact with minimum effort

So, that’s the secret. Simple but effective.

Gaining trust is not easy in the digital space. Knitting all your social platforms together so that users are following you in multiple locations creates a web of authenticity that will lead your followers to trust you.
